"And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, . . . unto the city of . . . Bethlehem; to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child." (Luke 2:4-5)In our rendition, there were TWO Marys and TWO donkeys. (Poor Joseph.)
"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." (Luke 2:7)Our rendition--baby Jesus was played by a snowman and the manger was an ottoman. (Don't laugh! It worked!)
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night." (Luke 2:8)Yah, our shepherds dressed a little more hip, and she's the cutest lamb you'll ever see!
"And suddenly there was with the angel a mulitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." (Luke 2:13-14)Aren't they beautiful?
" . . . [T]here came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, 'Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." (Matt. 2:1)Thank goodness for our older and wiser cousins!
"But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart." (Luke 2:19)The Spirit was there; our hearts were happy and we will always remember this rendition of our Savior's birth.
