We started a new tradition this year. Since we moved to Snowflake we don't have our family right here. We celebrated with them the weekend before, but that left us time to begin our own traditions on Christmas Eve. We decided to have a birthday party for the Savior--I mean, isn't tht what we're celebrating on Christmas? So, the girls chose homemade pizza for dinner--what birthday party is complete without pizza? With the extra dough, Lehi made homemade cinnamon rolls. We stuck a candle in one, lit it, and sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus. Then we all helped to blow it out. It may seem a little crazy. But, I have to admit it was fun. It helped us remember Him and put our focus on Him that night. After dinner we all gathered around the TV and watched "The Nativity"--a fabulous movie about His birth. It was a really fun way--and a different way--to celebrate.
Traditionally, we give our girls a new ornament every Christmas Eve--one that represents something about them for that year. This year we chose to give them snowflake ornaments since we moved to Snowflake.
Then, of course, the traditional new pj's! 'Liza got some with dogs and Kate got some with horses.
A tradition Lehi grew up with was opening a box of Sees chocolates and everyone getting to pick one. So, of course, we HAD to incorporate that into our traditions!
OOOO, yummmm!!!! Which one should I pick?(Personally, I always go for the caramels!)
And, that's how our Christmas Eves begin and end!

We baked a cake for Jesus too. It is very important for the kids to remember why we celebrate Christmas, so good for you :). Carmels are my favorite too :)).
